If you have the space, opt for the quartet. A quartet has a much more resonant sound than a trio or duo, offering richer harmonies and more volume over background noise. Pop, Jazz and Classical pieces sound best on the string quartet, but we can arrange most of our repertoire for the trio upon request. A duo is more limiting, but good news if you have very restricted space. Get in touch to find out what we can do for you.

Yes! We’re happy to blend in with your colour scheme as much as we possibly can and require at least 4 weeks’ notice to make arrangements. We can cater for most colour schemes, but please note that some additional fees may apply where suitable attire must be acquired.
Yes! From medieval banquets to Halloween parties, we’re happy to dress to suit the theme of your event. You may need to discuss this with us well in advance of the event so that we can make arrangements and it’s likely that some additional fees may apply. While we’re happy to match our wardrobe to the theme, please be aware that the costume must not inhibit our performance! We’re happy to advise you.
Yes! Our cellist, Chloe, is also a singer and is a pro at leading hymns! She can sing and play at the same time, so we’ve got your church service covered.
Your bespoke quartet arrangement can also be upgraded to include vocals upon request. Please bear in mind that if you wish to add vocals to a song, we will need some notice to arrange and rehearse the piece.
If you are planning a surprise song in which you are the singer, we're happy to help. We’ll communicate with you prior to the event to arrange the music and check we can perform it well with you, and then you will need to extend our booking time on the day to enable a short rehearsal. We’ll be able to advise as to how much extra time will be needed once we have the details of the arrangement.
How long do you want us?! More and more frequently, wedding clients ask us to play through not only their Ceremony and Drinks Reception, but their Meal too. These have included bookings 8 hours long! We love to share our music and will rehearse for hours in preparation for your special day. However, playing is very physical and in order to keep our hands and bodies in good order, we will need to take a 20min break for every 2 hours we perform. We strive to create a constant atmosphere and would hate for it to be suspended at the wrong moment, so with this in mind, we’ll liaise with you to find the best timing for any breaks.
For the most part, our bookings tend to be within 2hrs drive of Leeds, but we happily consider events further afield and even internationally.
Please provide each of us with a glass of water throughout the day. If we’re needed at your venue for more than a few hours or we’re travelling a fair distance to be with you, your offer to supply sustenance for us is much appreciated. In recognising how long our day can be, past clients have been so kind as to provide us with a hot meal, invite us to partake of their buffet or arrange a sandwich from the kitchen for us. For now, please note that one of us is allergic to blue cheese and mushrooms, but as your event draws closer, please check in with us for an update on dietary requirements.
One of the benefits of hiring India Rose Strings is that we can adapt our ensemble to suit the space available. While a quartet offers a full sound, a trio or duo require less space. A quartet will need 3m x 3m and a duo can fit into a space just 2.5m x 1.6m but we may need just a little more if amplification is required. Try to make sure nobody will be seated or stood too close to us; our bows will be moving and guests getting poked becomes a distinct possibility. Similarly, our instruments are very expensive and fragile, so it's best to keep children and any highly enthusiastic dancers at a sensible distance!
Yes! We’re happy to travel between venues to provide more delightful music for you! Please note, travel time between venues is included in your booking duration and travel expenses may be considered when we put our quote together for you.
For each musician, please provide one chair of standard height and with no arms. We bring our own music stands. Usually, our quartet plays acoustically as the natural sound is ample for most wedding venues, and in fact, gives us more flexibility to use the building’s own beautiful acoustics! As recommended supplier to many of the wedding and events venues in Yorkshire, we’re very happy to advise you.
If your venue has unusually large rooms, we’re able to bring a small PA system with us. Should your venue be very large indeed, we’re happy to ‘plug in’ to the venue’s PA system where available, or it may be necessary to source large PA equipment, both of which will incur fees due to hire charges, porterage, the addition of a sound technician, and additional time onsite to soundcheck. Generally speaking, using amplification tends to dictate where we are situated within your venue; without it, we can be much more portable and flexible!
Yes! We are happy to play outside if the weather is fine. However, if it is very sunny or if there is a chance of rain, we will need to play under cover to protect our instruments. Windy weather and music stands can also disagree with one another, so please bear this in mind when choosing our location. If the weather is extremely hot or very poor we will need to be stationed inside your venue. This not only protects our precious instruments from heat, UV and humidity, which cause them considerable damage, but means we stay in tune far better and can provide consistently beautiful music!
Yes, we do! We are insured to a value of £10 million so you and your venue can rest assured. We are happy to send you or your venue proof upon request.
