Violin on multicoloured roses - India Rose Strings Blog - Top tips and 'How To' advice on planning the music for your wedding, party or event

Brand New Year, Brand New Blog!

If 2019 just seemed to flash past your eyes, one thing is for certain…you are not alone!

While most of us have a tendency to look back at the year and think, “Where did all that time go?!”, I think it’s especially true for anyone involved in wedding planning. If you’re a bride- or groom-to-be, you might have been swept up in a whirlwind of researching what’s out there, discussing and deciding what you want, finding the perfect dress and venue, writing the guestlist (or the dreaded seating plan)… the to-do list is endless, and while I know it will have been stressful at times, I hope it was just as exciting and fun getting to know your wedding day!

This past year was especially busy for us as a quartet, working for a range of couples with different tastes and unique wedding dreams. It’s been my pleasure to get to know each and every couple and design a bespoke music package perfect for their big day. The past twelve months have kept me busy, writing new arrangements, meeting with venues, rehearsing and recording with the quartet and shooting video footage so that we can bring our music to even more wonderful people. The response to our music has been amazing and the reviews we’ve had from couples, guests and venues alike, have been overwhelming.

If we had the honour of playing at your wedding this year, I want to say a massive thank you for having us! I also want to thank you for choosing to support professional musicians and for playing a part in keeping music live. There really is nothing like live music to bring people together. We’re incredibly proud of the quality of our work and treasure every opportunity to share it with the world.

Highlights

There are so many to pick from this year, but I’d have to say, playing for the first ever wedding held at the stunning Manor Rooms in South Cave, and our rather special performance for the White Rose Awards at the First Direct Arena.

Oakwell Hall
As well as being a cracking wedding venue, the acoustics in their listed Hall are so good, we’ve been making recordings here this Autumn. A truly lovely team who can’t do enough for you. We’ve already got several bookings for weddings at this venue over the next 3 years and can’t wait to perform in this incredible space again and again!

This was a new one for us this year and we were absolutely blown away by the building. Sara, the wedding planner was an absolute delight and the food was out of this world.

Thicket Priory
While this one is very, very new to the luxury wedding circuit, no expense has been spared in creating a dream venue. We were invited to their Recommended Suppliers evening in September for a nosey around and are absolutely dying to perform in its acoustics! Anna and her team are a total treat to work with.

So what’s next?

I’m excited to say that over the course of 2019, we took a record number of bookings and (as well as having a few bookings in the diary for 2022 – yes, people love us that much!) we now have limited availability throughout 2020 and 2021! We’re over the moon that so many people want to share our music and make it a part of their special day!

We performed at several wedding fayres this year and 2020 will be no different. We love meeting engaged couples at these events and hearing about their wedding plans. Make sure you follow us on social media to keep up with where we’re going to be performing, and then come along and have a chat with us.

Over the course of the past year I have come to realise just how much I love helping my brides and grooms with their wedding music planning. I love to spend time chatting with couples, answering questions like:

      • ‘How do we choose wedding music?’
      • ‘What are the best modern songs to walk down the aisle to?’
      • ‘How can we mix traditional and modern music?’
      • ‘How do we use the music to set the tone?’
      • ‘How do we make our Drinks Reception music inclusive?’

And that’s why, this year, I have decided to start a blog full of helpful advice for planning wedding music. Feel free to swing by any time and read up on what’s hot in the wedding world and how to get the most out of your wedding music, and if you ever have further questions, just get in touch!
